The hiking area Gitschberg Jochtal is a unique region for hiking. It extends from the wild romantic mountains of Pfunders to the nearby Dolomites UNESCO world heritage of nature.
With the AlmencardPLUS, which is included for our guests from 1st May to 30th November, you are able to use the entire local transport system for free, have free access to more than 80 museums and many other advantages.
The village of Weitental is an ideal base for your daily trips, located in the middle of the mountains and in the heart of the Alps it is in a quiet locale yet less than 20 minutes from Brixen/Bressanone and Bruneck/Brunico.
For hiking you are spoilt for choice. In the surrounding areas you can find numerous hiking trails for every fitness level. For example:
Edelraut cottage in the mountains of Pfunders;
the alm of Rodeneck with its wonderful panoramic view;
the famous alm of Fane in Vals;
from there onto the Wild Lake and to the summit Wilde Kreuzspitze (3.135 m);
the summit Eidechsspitze, called Hegidex, above Weitental;
the dreamy, moony valley Altfasstal with the lakes Seefeld,
or a day trip to the nearby Dolomites (UNESCO world heritage of nature).
The Pustertal Valley is famous for its cycle paths and mountain bike trails. Here there are tracks for beginners or experienced mountain bikers.
So you could, for instance, explore the green Pustertal Valley on its main cycle path (easy going), or cycle from Innichen to Lienz in Austria through the Hohlenstein Valley to Cortina, or across one of the most beautiful mountain bike transitions of the Alps, the Pfunderer Joch.
Alternatively, enjoy a day trip through the natural park of Fanes-Sennes-Prags or, for a more extreme adventure, a trip through the mountains of the Rieserferner, the famous Klammljoch …
Holidays with a bicycle or mountain bike in the Pustertal Valley are simply a pleasure!
